Talk about the world’s tallest fountain! Yes, it is the Dubai Fountain which is more than 900 feet long. Located in Downtown Dubai, it is the second-largest choreographed fountain in the world. The setup of the impressive fountain is in the center of the Burj Khalifa Lake. WET Designs designed the Dubai Fountain. This company is based in California and has earlier constructed fountains in Las Vegas. The Dubai Fountain in Dubai Mall is capable of shooting water as high as 500 feet into the air. The total cost of building this fountain is around 218 million USD or 800 million AED.
Emaar Properties selected the name of the fountain through a naming competition. The testing of the Dubai Fountain began in Feb 2009. The Dubai Fountain was launched on 8th May 2009 which also happens to be the official inauguration date of the iconic Dubai Mall. The length of the Fountain extended to 275 meters on the 2nd of January, 2010.

This fountain is capable of spraying more than 83000 liters of water in the air at any time of the day. It has unique and impressive architecture. The fountain comprises five circles of different sizes. There are two arcs and powerful nozzles as well. There are more than 25 color projectors and 6600 lights that are responsible for illuminating the entire scene. The 6600 WET super lights are highly advanced incandescent lights available in today’s market. The color projectors are capable of creating a visual spectrum of more than one thousand different water expressions. Some projectors are also capable of providing a full range of colors. The total output is hence of more than 1.5 million lumens. The water projects in different intricate patterns and the light beam is visible from over 20 miles away.
At the end of 2010, the fountain got a unique additional element. This element was “Fire, ” and it outlined the Dubai Fountains. This fire was, however, temporary for the New Year Celebrations for the year 2011.
The fountain has many high-pressure and high-quality shooters and water jets. There are also water robots or oarsmen. They are capable of making the water seem to dance. There are also shooters and super shooters. They are capable of shooting aquatic upwards to a height of more than 240 feet. The extreme shooters are capable of pulling water to more than 500 feet in the air. These extreme aqua shooters create a thunderous ‘boom’ sound while water ejects. These aqua shooters rarely. Firstly, the noise can startle the public. Secondly, it takes a lot of energy and pressure to expel Water up till that height. Thirdly, it takes much time to build such a power and force.
The Dubai Fountain comes to life with the soulful music. The waterworks accompanied by a range of different songs. You can witness classic Arab music, world music, contemporary feats. The performance repertoires usually include the numbers of some iconic and mainstream performers like Enrique Iglesias, Adele, Celine Dion, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. Many works of Arab artists are also on the list. The performances usually take place at 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm. Another set of concerts takes place in the evening at a gap of 30 minutes, between 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm on weekdays. On weekends, the closing hour is stretched to 11:00 pm.
